All high school graduates in the East Montgomery County Improvement District are now guaranteed a great start to their college education. Educating the future of East Montgomery County is a priority of EMCID.
The East Montgomery County Improvement District (EMCID), in partnership with Lone Star College makes $1,000 available to each graduate to be used for tuition and fees at all Lone Star College locations across the Houston MSA area. Additionally this $1,000 can also be utilized at numerous four year schools for advanced educational needs.
The scholarship funds must be used within 24 months of high school graduation. EMCID was created by an act of the Legislature and approved by a vote of the residents of New Caney and Splendora Independent School Districts for the purpose of improving the quality of life in east Montgomery County. The improvement district is funded through a one and one half cent sales tax, and is managed by a President/CEO and a Board of Directors. EMCID created this endowed scholarship to promote the economic, social and cultural development of the area through education.
