Pre – K through 12th Education

schoolsNew Caney Independent School District serves approximately 9,000 students and is “Recognized” by the Texas Education Agency.  In addition, all campuses in the district meet Adequate Yearly Progress required by the No Child Left Behind Act. The District is located along the southeastern boundary of Montgomery County, Texas, in the northern suburbs of Houston, approximately 35 miles from the central business district of Houston.  The District is roughly bisected by U.S. Highway 59 North/I-69 Nafta Corridor (Eastex Freeway), which provides controlled multi-lane access to downtown Houston, and through interconnecting freeways, to all parts of metropolitan Houston.  New Caney I.S.D covers approximately 90 square miles and consists of two high schools; one of which is scheduled to open August of 2010, two middle schools, a sixth grade campus, eight elementary schools, and one alternative education center.

booksSplendora Independent School District is located approximately 40 miles northeast of Houston on U.S. Highway 59/I-69 Nafta Corridor. State Highway 242, strategically linking Interstate 45 with U.S. Highway 59, intersects the District. Splendora I.S.D. has an approximate enrollment of 3,400+. Although it’s rapidly growing, it is still the smallest school district in Montgomery County. Maintaining small-school charm, but providing large-school technology, Splendora residents take pride in its school district and the collaboration in the community is high.  Website: www.splendoraisd.org

Higher Education

collegeLone Star College System - Kingwood offers a 2 Year Program leading to Associate of Arts Degrees, the Associate of Science and Applied Science Degrees and certificate programs. Credit courses are offered in 40 major disciplines, and over 300 non-credit courses are taught. Particular strengths exist in the biotechnology and computer areas. The college is located on 224 acres in the Kingwood community. This college is part of the Lone Star College System. Over 6,000 students are enrolled. The Small Business Development Center on campus provides free business counseling.

Lone Star College System - University Center is a partnership of universities and the colleges of the Lone Star College System providing unduplicated bachelor's degrees, master's degrees and continuing professional studies to the college service area. Utilizing partnerships, seamless credit transfer programs, collaborative governance, shared facilities, interactive telecommunications, and "first stop" student services, the LSC-University Center serves as the critical link for community development and individual opportunity to over one and one-half million citizens of North Houston, North Harris County and Montgomery County. Partner universities are: Prairie View A & M, Sam Houston State, Texas A & M, Texas Southern, University of Houston, University of Houston Downtown.

Did You Know?

EMCID annually funds over $1,250,000 toward local firefighting and public safety needs for the residents of our area. This year EMCID will allocate over $696,000 for the Porter Fire Department, $458,000 for the New Caney Fire Department, and $100,000 for the Splendora Fire Department’s needs in fire protection for the residents of East Montgomery County.

Economic Development
Economic Development programs for businesses in East Montgomery County include funds available for small business expansion and relocation. In each case additional jobs need to be created and filled by residents residing within our District boundary. These funds are loaned out at below market rates and can be structured to fit your businesses growth needs.

Scholarship Foundation
Educational opportunities are available for every graduating senior. $1,000 is provided for each student which graduates from within the local High schools, or those that may be home schooled. Please call our office for additional information.
